East Devon Tree Care - News

In 2011, we completed a large contract for The Sid Vale Association in Sidmouth felling a large number of Cypress trees on Peaslands Knapp in Sidmouth. Due to the considerable conservation interest and abundant wildlife on the site, the work had to be carried out with minimal damage to help protect the area.

The meadow was bought by the Sid Vale Association using money from the Sidmouth Landscape Fund, a trust administered by the SVA and National Trust, which was set up to acquire land to preserve the wildlife and landscape of the valley. The aim of the one acre site is to protect it for future generations and allow appreciation of the mature trees and snowdrops, together with magnificent views east and west from the top of the hill.

The SVA, along with local volunteers, have planted many saplings in the meadow since then. These trees will form a hedge base to the meadow to provide habitat for wildlife and screening.
