This week we are pleased to deliver our Killerton ancient and veteran tree management plan to the #woodlandtrust
This has a been a four month project funded by the #greenrecoverychallengefund to establish the value and condition of the ancient and veteran trees on the @ntkillerton estate. The project was completed by some of the south west’s leading ancient tree specialist Tim Kellet, @jillbutler894 and @failstone27
For this project we have combined records of nearly 800 trees from 3 previous surveys and the #ancienttreeinventory. We then inspected nearly 300 trees identified as being at risk.
Killerton is a site of national importance for its ancient and veteran trees, especially Oaks, with some specimens 600-700 years old. Here are a just a few of them
