The consulting level of VETcert exam is a certification scheme for veteran tree specialists who provide advice on the care and management of ancient and other veteran trees. The consulting level of the VETcert exam is a one-day exam. It consists of a written exam with open questions, an outdoor part with exercises and oral questioning and the writing of a veteran tree management report.

The achievement of this qualification cements Matthew’s passion and interest in caring for ancient and veteran trees in our landscapes. Matthew encourages anyone who provides advice on the care and management of ancient and other veteran trees to undertake the training and sit the examination. Candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience in total, of which three should be in an advisory role. Further details of the qualification is available from the VETcert website or you can contact The Arboricultural Association.
