Matthew Shute was invited to Belgium as a guest speaker at ArboWeekend 2026, held in Herentals from 2nd–4th October.

Organised by Bomen Beter Beheren, the event brought together arboricultural professionals and tree enthusiasts from across Europe to share knowledge, discuss industry developments and explore best practices in tree care and conservation.

Matthew delivered a specialist presentation titled “Practical Experience of Installing Static Cable Bracing Systems in Trees”, drawing on his extensive hands-on experience working with both static and dynamic tree bracing systems.

His talk explored the practical considerations of cable bracing, including differences between UK and European standards, material selection, durability and the importance of designing appropriate support systems for valuable and veteran trees.

It was a fantastic opportunity for Matthew to share his knowledge with fellow professionals, exchange ideas and contribute to international discussions about the preservation and management of trees.

At East Devon Tree Care, we’re passionate about sharing expertise, continuing professional development and promoting thoughtful, sustainable tree care.

A big thank you to the organisers at Bomen Beter Beheren for the invitation and for putting together such a valuable event.
