East Devon Tree Care are commited to sustainability and our environment and have adopted the following environmentally considerate methods.

Recycling
Our commitment is to minimise waste and recycle wherever possible. We feed as much as we can of our green waste through a brushwood chipper. This allows us to create the by product of chippings which, once matured to mulch, can be used on garden planting beds, footpaths, playgrounds, for tree planting etc.
Timber which is too big to chip can be cut to specified pieces and stacked neatly on site where appropriate, which can be used later as fuel for wood burners. Where possible we have a local contact who will take the wood for us to be stored and used later for furniture and decorative item purposes.

Environmental Impact
Our commitment wherever possible is to lessen our environmental impact by:
• Using bio-degradable chainsaw oil
• Purchasing equipment designed to reduce environmental impact
•Working within guidelines set out in the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the Countryside Rights of Way Act 2000, the Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 and Part III of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985.

Wildlife Protection
Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act and the Countryside and Rights of Way Act, all birds and their nests and eggs are protected by law. Many other species of animals such as bats and badgers are also protected.
East Devon Tree Care will undertake a Habitat Disturbance assessment at all sites before undertaking any tree work. If protected species or their roosts are discovered whilst undertaking tree work, we will stop work and inform the relevant authorities for further advice. Management of East Devon Tree Care have been trained in recognising and identifying potential bat roosts.
